Traditional Aikido in West Cumbria
West Cumbria Aikido provides traditional Aikido training at St Bees School, near Whitehaven and the west Cumbrian coast. Our classes are open to beginners and experienced practitioners aged 16 and over.
We practise Takemusu Aikido, following the teachings and technical system passed down from O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba through Morihiro Saito Sensei.

West Cumbria Aikido is a founding and full member of the Traditional Aikido Alliance (TAA), a group of UK Aikido dojos dedicated to practising the Aikido of O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba as taught by the late Morihiro Saito Sensei.
Through our membership of the TAA, West Cumbria Aikido is affiliated with the British Aikido Board (BAB), the national governing body for Aikido in the UK. Our instructors hold BAB-certified coaching qualifications, and all club members benefit from insurance through the BAB.
We are also a full member of Traditional Aikido Europe (TAE), an organisation bringing together Aikido dojos across the UK and Europe with a shared commitment to the teachings and technical tradition of O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba and Morihiro Saito Sensei.
